Andres Montante, a senior accountant for 27 years at the City of Detroit’s Department of Public Works, scored a hole in one during the golf tournament held last Aug. 11 at the Devil’s Ridge Golf Club in Lapeer, Michigan.
The tournament, which was a fund-raiser of the Philippine Medical Association of Michigan Foundation (PMAMF), was participated in by 120 golfers.
Ramon Villanueva, who was one of the tournament coordinators, said Montante hit the hole in one at Hole No. 8, using an 8 iron. The distance was 110 yards.
Montante, who retired recently, is a weekend golfer and a member of the PAGA league.
Declared overall winners (men and women) for submitting the lowest net scores, were first place, Efrain Arboleras (59); and second place (tie), Fred Acosta and Danny Franco (61).
The lowest gross score (72) was carded by Lauren Ingel of Callaway group.
The players who drove the ball closest to the pin were Hole No. 2, Danny Franco; Hole No. 4, Dr. Manny Magno; Hole No. 8 (hole in one), Andy Montante; and Hole No. 16, Charlie Lamont.
Aside from Villanueva, the tournament was coordinated by Doctors Arnel Clarin, Gilbert Roc, Bernardino Pacris and Candy Catapang.
PMAM President Rosemary Aquiller-Angeles said proceeds from the tournament will partly fund the expenses for PMAM’s medical-surgical mission which will be held in Iriga City, Philippines next year.
