A golfer belonging to a group from Greektown Casino topped the First World Medical Relief (WMR) Golf Tournament held on Sept. 7, 2013 at the Oak Pointe Club Golf Course in Brighton, Michigan.
[box type=”default” size=”large”] Golfer of Greektown Casino group is champion [/box]The tournament, organized by couple Vance Hum and Imelda Martin Hum, was a fund-raiser benefitting WMR, a Detroit-based international relief agency headed by Filipino-American George V. Samson, president and CEO.
According to the tournament results emailed to the Filipino Star News by Imelda Martin-Hum, Ron Matolski, who led the Greektown Casino group, garnered first place with a score of 60.
In second place was Mark Darnell of Tradelogix who submitted a score of 63. Third was Craig Champagne, president of CWC Telecom, who scored 69.
There were more than 40 golfers in the tournament who played in a foursome format.
Samson and the Hum couple thanked the golfers and the major sponsors for their support for the fund-raising golf outing. Samson said fund donations to WMR benefit developing countries which are recipients of free medical supplies and hospital equipment given by the relief agency.
The major sponsors were Chevrolet GMAC (hole-in-one prize sponsor), Tradelogix, CMC Telecom, Brighton Family Dentistry, Livingston Sleep Therapy, Medox Inc., Senior Mortgage Banker and Advance Medical Solution.
The other sponsors, who are mostly friends of WMR, were Dr. Ernie Mac, Dr. Ernie and Mrs. Angela Bedia, Dr. Gordon Niles, Dr. Brian Petersburg, Dr. Brian Giamalva, Mr. and Mrs. Van Ong, Ryan Rosario, Philippines Chamber of Commerce, OCA Foundation, Kiwanis of Metro North Troy, Gary Butler, family of the late Jun Pinlac, Barbara Gates, Jewelry Depot, Shop.com/Go Healthy and Fuji Buffet.
Imelda Hum said the success of the First WMR Golf Tournament came as a result of the all-out support of the sponsors.
