MANILA — The Court of Tax Appeals (CTA) deferred recently its resolution on the tax evasion cases filed against Senator-elect Emmanuel “Pacman” Pacquiao.
The CTA said that it still has to start clarifying the issue raised in the tax cases against Pacquiao pursuant to an order of the Supreme Court (SC).
The CTA also conducted a clarificatory hearing on the presentation of evidence.
It was learned that the CTA ordered Pacquiao to put up a P3-billion cash bond so that the Bureau of Internal Revenue (BIR) would not freeze his assets.
Because of this order, the world boxing champion elevated the case to the SC to question the huge cash bond being required of him. (Philippine News Agency)
