The beauty contest is a biannual (once every two years) fund-raising project of the Filipino American Community Council of Michigan (FILAMCCO), the umbrella organization of some 40 Filipino-American groups in Michigan.

FILAMCCO President Ryan Rosario is urging the organizations under FILAMCCO as well as individuals to sponsor any one of the candidates.

For information on the sponsorship terms and mechanics, interested groups and individuals are asked to email Flor Penner, chairperson of the overall beauty-contest committee, at [email protected]

Penner said that initially, there were at least eight ladies who wanted to join the contest, but three of them changed their mind.
