The Philippine Nurses’ Association of Michigan (PNAM) will mark the celebration of its 45th anniversary with the holding of Ms. Florence Nightingale contest in the evening of Oct. 21, 2017 at the Wyndham Hotel in Sterling Heights.
Grace M. Ramirez, chairperson of the event committee, said four candidates have been nominated by their peers to vie for the prestigious Ms. Florence Nightingale title. The contest is a tribute to nursing excellence.
The candidates are Clair Tumaghap, BSN, RN, cardiology nurse specialist at Beaumont Royal Oak Hospital; Gloria Camano, BSN, RN, regional nursing director (Four Seasons and Belle Fountain Nursing Homes, both rated five stars); Simonette Pura-Elgert, MA, MHS, BSN, RN,CNML, director of patients’ care services at St John Hospital; and Vicky Nery-Sureta, CRNA, MHS, BSN, RN, anesthetist at Michigan Children’s Hospital.
The winner of the title will be announced at the conclusion of the event.
The emcees will be Victoria Bryan and Terrence Ranjo.
The proceeds will benefit a scholarship program for deserving undergraduate and post-graduate students. It will also bankroll PNAM’s healthcare projects.
Donations to PNAM are tax-free as it is a professional, non-profit 501c3 organization.

Raffle tickets costing $10 each are now available. The major prizes include a 50” Smart TV, MK bag and Keurig coffee maker, and lots of other valuable prizes. Event tickets cost $50 each.
