Even before the start of the Metro Manila Film Festival, Vice Ganda declared that for sure his film entry, “Boy, Girl, Bakla, Tomboy”, will be the top grosser. He made this assertion in spite of the fact that the Metro Manila Development Authority (MMDA) people in charge of the film fest officially reported that Vice’s film ranked second only to “My Little Bossings” (starring Vic Sotto, Kris Aquino, Ryzza Mae Dizon, Bimby). Vice even plugged in his TV show that his entry was lording it over at the tills.

Meanwhile, a triumphant Kris remarked she’s joy personified over her son Bimby who has achieved instant stardom, thanks to Vic and child actress Ryzza Mae for their support and for making their film entry No. 1 in the box office.

At the rate things are shaping up, mutual chums of Kris and Vice Ganda surmised that the film fest results may adversely affect the friendship of the two, that is if Vice is not humble enough to admit his defeat.

A colleague commented, “Kasi last year top grosser ang movie niya na ‘Sisteraka,’ kaya feeling niya unbeatable ang movie niya sa takilya. Hopefully. Vice Ganda will acknowledge to Kris the fact that “My Little Bossings” won over his film. If not, Kris won’t take the matter sitting down.”

In the battle of networks, it looks like TV 5 has a chance to improve its poor third ranking with its new high-budgeted programs for this year. Plus it has forged a partnership with the Bell Company for its international operations so that it can compete well with Channel 2’s The Filipino Channel (TFC) and GMA-7’s Pinoy TV.[box type=”default” size=”large”] Current tidbits: [/box]The films about the Philippines produced by a United Kingdom company (“Metro Manila”) and a Singapore production (“Ilo-Ilo”) failed to be included in the list of the nine finalists for the Oscar’s Best Foreign Movie.
