With the sudden appearance of Maine Mendoza in “Eat Bulaga” recently, positive expectations soar high among the Maine-Alden Richards admirers. For weeks rumors persisted that the break-up of the tandem could be due to their non-appearance in their noon-time TV show and the duo’s alleged misunderstanding.
For one, Maine allayed the worries of the “Aldub nation” when she disclosed she’s back in the limelight for good and is not quitting showbiz. She spent the Yuletide season with her family in U.S. and Alden took a vacation in Tokyo, Japan. However, Maine seems to avoid talking on the topic about her alleged differences with Alden and a movie project for their reteaming.
Nevertheless, their diehard followers had high hope when they received news about a story conference on their reteaming in a move early this year. A reliable source whispered to this writer there is a good chance for the movie to be pushed through if Alden and Maine give their nod to the offer.
Just asking: What triggered the alleged tiff between Alden and Maine?
New Year messages for some celebrities
Not a few fans have New Year messages to the following celebrities: Ai-Ai delas Alas: A lasting partnership with Gerald Tibayan. After several failures in her love life, Ai-Ai deserves a stable relationship with the guy she married. Hopefully, they will be blessed with a child, too.
Former senator Bong Revilla: He be allowed to post bail for his temporary liberty. As one time publicist of Bong, despite his frailties, I know for a fact the goodness of Bong deep inside him. Years of detention have brought him enough sufferings, more than enough for whatever he had committed.
Sharon Cuneta-Gabby Concepcion: This 2018, it’s time to push for the ex-couple’s comeback starrer that their loyal fans have been anticipating. With the tremendous box-office income of Sharon’s film “Unexpectedly Yours,” Gabby should have no problem accepting accepting the offer to banner a flick with her. Many opine, though, that if ever it would be a bigger hit, proving her hold at the tills.
Vice Ganda: Yes, you’re a versatile performer, popular and box-office star. He has to exert extra effort not to be attacked by bashers by showing humility, admitting his faults, and exuding coolness and calm while under pressure.
Kris-Herbert issue returns
Once again the romantic issue over Kris Aquino and QC Mayor Herbert Bautista is in the air. You see, Kris recounted anew that years back Herbert gave her one- karat diamond ring and proposed marriage to her. But to shun conflict with her children, she turned down the proposal, but up to this day she has maintained her friendship with Herbert.
Personally, I’ve been associated with Herbert and his live-in partner Tates Gana with whom he has children. His love, care and support for them truly endeared Herbert to me. This writer believes he could not left them just like to be with Kris.

My writer-chums whisper to me an alleged shocking incident involving this lovely actress. Talks have it that her boyfriend is so downhearted when he found out she has a secret lesbian lover. No matter what, the actor’s love remains, no plan to break off with her, especially after she apologized to him. Ah, that’s common in showbiz. Even some beauty queens have experienced a T-bird relationship.
After four years of incarceration, Bong Revilla was able to spend Christmas with his family in Bacoor City, Cavite. The Sandiganbayan’s First Division allowed him to visit his loved ones. In his instagram, he posted a picture showing a joyous reunion with his dad, Ramon Revilla Sr., his wife Bacoor Mayor Lani Mercado, children, siblings, nephews and nieces during the unforgettable moments. God answered his prayer, indeed.
Kris Aquino exuded glee as she was proud of her son Bimby by basketeer James Yap on the issue thrown by a basher that the kid is a gay. Bimby’s cool reply, “why judge a child like him?” Kris was enraged, claiming she has not neglected Bimby and his brother Joshua. As their mom, she shows them the right path but won’t interfere in their preferences when they are already grown up.
At a recent reunion with actress-director Beverly Vergel, couple Romano ‘Billy’ Castelvi, his wife Jean Lopez and colleague Baby Jimenez, Beverly offered Jean a major role. It’s for the second film she’ll direct after the award-winning “Living Instead.” Jean shows enthusiasm so it might be her screen comeback after decades of absence. Jean is noted for her doll-faced beauty and sing-dance prowess.
Derek Ramsay was declared Best Actor for his role in “All of You” at the Metro Manila Film Festival and Joanna Ampil won the Best Actress award for “Larawan” which was adjudged best picture. Paul Soriano got the Best Director trophy.
