SOUTHFIELD — The Philippine American Cultural Center of Michigan (PACCM) will mark the celebration of its 35th anniversary with a post-Valentine event at Detroit Marriott Hotel in Troy in the evening of Feb. 17, 2018.
The event is a major fund-raiser to generate donations from various sources like corporate sponsors and contributions from community organizations, advertisers and private donors.
The proceeds will be earmarked for the maintenance of the PACCM’s building, yearly operations and continuous community services. It will also bankroll the operations of the Paaralang Pilipino.
One of the event’s highlights is a special program honoring couples marking their 5th, 10th, 15th, 20th, 25th, 30th, 35th, 40th, 45th and 50th wedding anniversaries.
The celebration will also feature auctions, raffle draws, entertainment, dessert table, dance and music.
This year’s Valentine Ball’s theme is “Love Conquers All.”
PACCM’s Valentine Ball has now become a tradition. Filipinos in Michigan come together not only to celebrate love but also to encourage support for and appreciation of their community center which has been the source of service, educational and cultural connections among community members since its establishment.
It is also a great opportunity for community members and organizations to lend support to the center through their financial contributions.
PACCM is home to the Paaralang Pilipino (Filipino school) where children learn Filipino language, history and culture through dance, art, music and other courses.
It is likewise the venue of choice for various organizational and community activities, projects, workshops, services, social functions and conferences by Filipinos, other Asian organizations and ethnic groups.
