The Philippine American Cultural Center of Michigan (PACCM) is now in the thick of preparations for its annual Valentine’s Ball which will be held in the evening of Feb. 7, 2015 at the Somerset Inn in Troy.
The event will also mark the celebration of the 32nd anniversary of PACCM, which serves as “home away from home” and hub of the Filipino-American community in Michigan.
PACCM President Rebecca Tungol said the Valentine’s Ball is a major fund raiser, the proceeds of which will bankroll the maintenance of the PACCM building and the implementation of its flagship programs, including the Paaralang Pilipino.
Tungol announced that the PACCM board has appointed Willie Dechavez and Loida Moses as co-chairpersons of the overall event committee. In appointing the two leaders, the board took into consideration their experience as event organizers and fund raisers.
She said that couples to be honored during the Valentine’s Ball with the theme “Love Will Keep Us Together…Forever” are those celebrating their first, fifth, 10th, 15th, 20th, 25th, 30th, 35th, 40th, 45th, 50th and 55th anniversaries.
She asked the couples marking their landmark nuptial anniversaries to call PACCM Executive Director Tony Kho at telephone 248-755-6122 on or before Jan. 25 so that their names could be included in the program.
As in past Valentine’s parties, there will be a cultural presentation. Top-caliber singers will entertain the guests.
Regular tickets cost $50 each, and benefactor tickets are priced at $100 each.
For ticket reservations, individuals or groups are asked to call any one of the following: Willie Dechavez, tel. 586-713-8261; Loida Moses, 248-672-0789; Becky Tungol, 248-755-6119; Dr. Ernie Mac, 248-641-8993; Tony Kho, 248-755-6122; Jeff Jenks, 248-755-6122; and Fred Porte, 586-939-0618.
