The Philippine American Community Center of Michigan (PACCM) is now in thick of preparations for its yearly, always well attended Valentine’s Ball, which will be held on February 11, 2012 at the Troy Marriott Hotel in Troy.

PACCM Chairperson Ernestina Mac said Valentine’s Ball 2012 is a major fund-raising project, whose proceeds will be used to bankroll PACCM’s programs.

Mac expected the Valentine’s Ball to be a romantic evening as the affair will fete couples marking their 10th, 15th, 20th, 25th, 30th, 40th, 45th and 50th wedding anniversaries.

The men will gift their sweethearts with red roses, and later the couples will dance to the tune of “Let Me Call You Sweetheart.”
The event will also feature cultural dances and music and special performances. Valuable door prizes will be raffled off.

The affair will be capped by ballroom dancing which will last until past midnight.

It will be a colorful affair as the dress code is “red formal.”

PACCM celebrated its 10th anniversary on September 11, 2001. Its building in Southfield serves as the hub of the Filipino-American community.

PACCM is noted for its year-round community services extended through its various programs such as the annual “Health and Wellness Fair” and “Consular Services on Wheels.”

Its flagship program is the Paaralang Pilipino (Filipino School) which teaches, among others, Tagalog (the national language) and Filipino culture to second-generation Filipino-American children.

PACCM has a reference library and an activity center for the youth. It also has a collection of Philippine arts and artifacts.
It has a spacious hall which serves as venue for events and social gatherings.
