CAPA[box type=”default” size=”large”] Election to be held on November 5, 2014 [/box]The nomination committee of the Council of Asian Pacific Americans (CAPA) announced the names of candidates for board positions in CAPA’s election which will be held on Nov. 5, 2014.

The term of office of those who will be declared winners in the election will start on January 1, 2015.

All CAPA board members are eligible to cast their votes. Absentee ballots signed by the concerned board members should be submitted to the CAPA secretary so that these can be included in the vote count.

The nomination committee said the nominees for members of the executive board who will be elected are: president, Dr. Aneesa Rashid;

vice president, Sarwat Azim; and secretary, James Wilson.

There will be no election for executive director as Pina Chhaya will continue to occupy the position in 2015

Also, there will be no election for treasurer as incumbent Treasurer Phil Chan has been appointed in an interim capacity to the position until a new treasurer is appointed.

The nominees for members of the board of directors who will be elected are Christine Marie Liwag Dixon, editor-in-chief of DL magazine and Filipino Star News columnist; Lidong Li, PhD, Professor, School of Education and Human Resources, Oakland University; Rachna Kumar, president of MIBIHAR and Website administrator of UPAD; and Lavinia Mateo, president of the University of the Philippines Alumni Association of Michigan.

The members of the board of directors who will continue their term of office in 2015 are Sharon Dow, Dr. Christian Orano, Toni Martinez, Lisa Gray, Ke Zhang-Miske (Coco), Natsuko Sugawa, Jenny Wang, Becky Tungol, Arcie Gemino and Robert Riparip.

The nominations committee is composed of Gemino, chairperson; and Riparip and Mumtaz Haque, members.
