The competition for the prestigious Mrs. Philippines-Michigan 2015-2017 title is now heating up.

This was indicated by the big number of hits in a Facebook page created for the contest. On the page are the pictures of the eight candidates.

People who visited the page indicated the candidates they want to win by clicking the “like” button.

According to Ryan Tejero, administrator of the Facebook page for the beauty contest, there were 38,000 hits in just four hours after the page was set up.

One of the candidates was reported to have garnered 700 “likes.”

A fund-raising project of the Filipino American Community Council (FILAMCCO) headed by President Imelda Martin Hum, the beauty pageant will be held in the evening of Aug. 22, 2015 at the St. John Armenian Cultural Center in Southfield.

Following are the biographical sketches of the four other candidates.

Jaben Bodrie lives in Bay City, Michigan with her husband Dr. James Bodrie, Jr. She works as a medical assistant. Her hobbies include running, taekwondo and zumba.

In her spare time, she does coaching work in weight management and exercise. She is interested in fencing, tai-chi, swimming and mission trips abroad.

Jaben’s candidacy is being sponsored by WFFAA-Kasuyo Foundation which is based in Grand Rapids, Michigan.

Angel Salvador Faucheux studied computer science. A very sweet and fun- loving person, she is a mother of two beautiful girls. She is described as a very caring friend, a responsible daughter and a moody wife. She loves playing badminton and camping with friends and family. She dabbles in cake decorating and appreciates the entire cornucopia of arts.

She speaks three languages and loves to travel. Her favorite hobby is to eat five times a day.

Aiza Milton lives in Romulus, Michigan with her husband Michael Milton. She studied in Iligan City in Mindanao, Philippines/

She loves to sing and dance. She loves to play with her two cats and one dog. She enjoys time hanging out with her Filipino friends. She “loves her “husband to death and, of course, her family.

She described herself as just a simple girl from Mindanao.

Liza Barranco lives at Novi, Michigan with her husband Rossvell Barranco. She works as a nursing staff at a home health care agency. Her hobbies include playing tennis. She is also fond of watching

movies. She enjoys partying with friends and wants to walk as a form of exercise.

Liza’s candidacy is being sponsored by the Philippine Technological  Society of Michigan.

Willie is a teacher at the Detroit Public School. A very popular and influential leader in the Filipino-American community in Michigan, Dechavez is the incumbent Michigan state chairperson of the National Federation of Filipino-American Associations (NaFFAA) and public relations officer of both the Filipino-American Community Council (FILAMCCO) and the Philippine American Community Center (PACCM). A native of Sorsogon, Philippines, he is also vice president of the Bicol Association of Michigan. He is recipient of numerous awards.
