Dr. Ernestina delos Santos-Mac, president of the Philippine American Foundation Inc. (PAFI), has issued a call for assistance to the victims of super typhoon Ruby (international code name: Hagupit) that pummeled some parts of the Visayas and Bicol on Dec. 7-9, 2014.
Doctor Mac said, “We must find it in our hearts to help them (typhoon victims). One of the greatest gifts we have is the gift of charity, kindness and goodwill. Let us all do our best to help them.”
She said that she will keep the Filipino community in Michigan posted on the latest typhoon situation and that “as soon as the mechanisms for a fund-raising campaign are in place I will send to you the details.”
She said that the donations will be channeled through PAFI (formerly Filamcco Foundation), a 501c3 entity, adding “rest assured that your donations will be given directly to the victims of this super typhoon.”
It was recalled that Doctor Mac and other community leaders spearheaded the successful fund-raising drive for the victims of super typhoon Yolanda (Haiyan) that devastated Tacloban City, Leyte and other areas in the Visayas on Nov. 8, 2013.
Assistance, mostly in kind, was given by PAFI directly to the victims.
