Filipino-American youth Christopher M. Ranella recently graduated magna cum laude from the University of Michigan (UM) in Ann Arbor with a degree in Bachelor of Science in Biomedical Engineering.
Ranella will pursue a master’s degree in electrical engineering at UM in this coming school year.
He is the only child of Patrick and Teresita Ranella. Patrick is a former detective of the Detroit Police, while Teresita (nee Mariano), who hails from Piddig, Ilocos Norte, Philippines, is a registered nurse. The family lives in Macomb township.
His proud parents, Aunt Mila Mabrey, Gwen Sanders and Jonathan Mabrey attended the graduation ceremonies held in the UM stadium.
About four years ago, Christopher graduated valedictorian from the L’Anse Creuse High School in Macomb.
