Couples celebrating their landmark wedding anniversaries this year will be special guests at the Valentine’s Ball of the Philippine American Community Center (PACCM) in the evening of Feb. 8, 2014 at the Troy Marriott Hotel in Troy.
PACCM is now in the thick of preparations to make sure the event will be a romantic evening which will be highlighted by a music-dance show entitled “Love Around the World.” Billie Belen, chairperson of a PACCM committee tasked to coordinate the special program honoring couples marking their landmark nuptial anniversaries, said the couples will be serenaded by a Filipino singer during the Valentine’s Ball.
The men will also hand over to their partners long-stemmed roses that symbolize their everlasting love. They will then dance to the tune of “Let Me Call You Sweetheart.”
She said the couples to be honored are those marking their fifth, 10th, 15th, 20th, 25th, 30th, 35th, 40th, 45th and 50th wedding anniversaries.
Belen asked the couples to call her at telephone 313-690-3009 or Tony Kho at 248-755-6122 to inform her about their names and the landmark year they are marking. The information is to be printed in the program.
Belen said the deadline for the submission of the couples’ names is Feb. 1, 2014.
The Valentine’s event will likewise mark the celebration of the 31st anniversary of PACCM, which serves as the city hall of the Filipino-American community in Michigan.
PACCM President Rebecca Tungol said the Valentine’s Ball is a major fund raiser, the proceeds of which will be used to bankroll the maintenance of the PACCM building and the implementation of the center’s flagship programs, including Paaralang Pilipino.
PACCM Executive Director Tony Kho had earlier announced that the board has appointed Josie Palu-ay and Jeff Jenks as co-chairpersons of the overall event committee. He had also announced that the entertainment committee is co-chaired by Flor Penner and Arcie Gemino.
The music-dance show, choreographed by Annabelle Cudilla and produced by Toni Martinez, will be presented by the Tagumpay Dance Group.
Regular tickets cost $50 each, and benefactor tickets are priced at $100 each. Ticket price for students is $30, and kid’s meal is $15.
Attire will be formal.
