The Council of Asian Pacific Americans (CAPA) will hold its election of officers on Nov. 6, 2013 at the Philippine American Community Center (PACCM) in Southfield, it was announced.
Former CAPA president Arcie Gemino said that preparations are going on for the election.
Members planning to run for any position are asked to submit a short biography of themselves.
Gemino said that the following CAPA members are running in the election for various positions:
Aneesa Rashid, president-elect; Becky Tungol, vice president; Pina Chhaya, executive director; and Jeff Vedua, assistant treasurer.
Running for board directors are Jianli (Jenny) Wang, director, DTE strategy and planning; Ryan Rosario, president, Filipino American community Council (FILAMCCO); Theresa Tran, president, APIA Vote Michigan; and Steve Shang, vice president, Ford Chinese Association.
The following directors are no longer seeking reelection: Sarvesh Seshadri, Nian Xiao and Amy Wang.
The following are continuing their tenure and remaining in their current positions: Bob Riparip (president), Sarwat Sayed, Phil Chan (treasurer), Christian Orano, Toni Martinez, Adriene Lim, Coco Zhang,
Arcie Gemino, Fred Porte, Lisa Gray, Natsuko Sugawa, Tony Kho, Tony Antonio, Sharon Dow and James Wilson.
