CAPA now accepting applications for its 2018 scholarship awards — FSN

The Council of Asian Pacific Americans (CAPA) is now accepting applications for its 2018 scholarship awards, it was announced.

The prestigious Scholars Award program was established by CAPA to encourage the educational advancement of Asian Pacific American youth in Michigan and foster youth involvement and leadership in the APA Community.

The scholarship awards are intended for full-time high school seniors who will attend college in Michigan and who will continue to reside in Michigan.

CAPA encourages candidates to be involved and serve on CAPA’s Youth Committee or volunteer for APA events so they can give back to the APA community.

Two winners of the award will receive $500 scholarship award, and one winner will receive $1,000 award during CAPA’s “Splendor of the East” reception in May.

The recipients will be chosen by CAPA’s education committee, which will base its selection on the applicants’ potential to provide outstanding APA leadership and/or community service in Michigan.

Full-time high school seniors who will attend an institution of learning in the State of Michigan and stay in Michigan are qualified to apply for the scholarship awards.

Eligible students must submit their applications on or before March 31, 2018. The finalists are required to attend the interview for the final selection.

The schedules of interviews will be announced on April 8, 2018, with dates to be announced to the finalists. The interview is mandatory for selected finalists who will be contacted after all the applications are received.

The interviews will be conducted in the CAPA office at 29330 Stephenson Highway, Madison Heights.
