In his early years, Resty, as he was fondly called by his family and friends, opened a midsize grocery store, where he spent most of his time socializing with customers who were attracted by his wit, charm, magnetism and handsomeness.

He earned his law degree from Far Eastern University in Manila. In one of the school’s fraternity parties, he found the love of his life, Ester, with whom he was married for 60 blissful years.

Resty was a stern disciplinarian but this trait was tempered by his being a wonderful family man, devoted husband, loving father, grandfather, great-grandfather.

While in the US, he and his wife saw to it that his children learn to speak the Filipino language and imbibe Filipino culture and values.

He was a man of great integrity, a man with great moral compass and a man of strong Catholic faith.  He emphasized fairness, goodness, survival and the importance of higher education.
