Three candidates will vie for the prestigious Ms. Florence Nightingale title during the Philippine Nurses Association of Michigan’s (PNAM) fund-raising event set in the evening of Oct. 5, 2013 at Sterling Inn on Van Dyke Road, Sterling Heights.
PNAM President Emma de Leon Pacris said that a silent auction of valuable items will also be conducted during the event. The proceeds will fund PNAM’s scholarship program and other projects.
Former PNAM President Carmen Perez said the three candidates for the Ms. Nightingale crown are Mrs. Norma A. Bada, Myrna Ruth Mariano and Janette Torrico-Woo.
They met the following qualifications and criteria: They should be currently licensed as registered nurse, should be active members of PNAM and should be willing to represent PNAM in community affairs.
Because the search for Ms. Nightingale is a fund-raising project, the selection of the winner will be based on the candidates’ resume, records of volunteerism and the amounts they raised, Perez said.
The winner will be crowned Ms. Nightingale shortly after the results of the search are announced. The two other candidates will be given the titles of Ms. Hope and Ms. Faith.
Pacris appealed to PNAM members and kind-hearted people to donate valuable items which will be sold during the silent auction. The donated items will certainly boost the fund-raising effort, she said.
People who want to donate items for the silent auction are asked to call Sonia Montano at telephone 586-536-0835 or Emma Pacris, 248-698-2090.
For information about tickets, individuals planning to the attend the event are asked to call Amy Risvold at 586-344-1476 or Carol A. Santiago at 586-354-4258.
